400 False prophets vs One true voice

Ahab was one of the most evil kings of Israel mentioned in the Bible. His wife Jezebel was even more vile, she was into gross idolatry, Baal cultism, and sorcery. Jehoshaphat was the King of Judah around that time. Ahab wanted to invade Ramoth-Gilead which was North of Israel and sought the help of King Jehoshaphat to go with him in battle. So, the two kings gather for battle with their armies and just before they launch out, they seek the Word of the Lord. Ahab gathers 400 prophets all of whom say, “Go up, for the Lord will give it into your hand.” Jehoshaphat who was a godly king, and in the lineage of David, asked if there were any other genuine prophets left. Basically, he was saying, even if hundreds of these fellows speak, am not able to get that Peace and strength which comes when the Holy Spirit speaks.

For historical context, it was circa 850 B.C and Elijah was the senior prophet in Israel and trained many people in the schools of prophets under him. Elijah had already prophesied that .evil Ahab would die a dog’s death. Micaiah was a prophet during this time. So, Micaiah comes and tells Ahab, the vision he saw in Heaven – that Ahab would die in battle, and that he will lose the battle and Israel will be without a king. That God allowed a lying spirit into these false prophets to trap Ahab. This word shook the kings, the other prophets ridiculed Micaiah, and finally he was put in prison (1 Kings 22:27,28). But Micaiah’s words came to pass shortly. Ahab was killed in battle, dogs licked his blood, and the 400 prophets were proved false.

Fast Forward to the days of Jesus. The Gospels tell us that on the Mount of Transfiguration that God sent Moses and Elijah to encourage Jesus. Jesus was under tremendous pressure when he thought of his impending death and almost said No to the Cross, as we read in the Garden of Gethsemane. That’s why the Father sent Moses and Elijah and they said, Lord Jesus, we believed the Bible that the Messiah was to come and die for our sins. If you now shirk from the Cross, what will happen. For mankind’s sake, please go through the Cross. Moses stood for the Law and Elijah stands for the Prophets. All the Law points to Jesus, esp. every lamb sacrifice. One word summary of the Prophets, is Look for the Messiah and his days on earth. I know that many of you don’t at all think of Jesus and the Cross when you read about Elijah or Moses. No prophet can speak the mind of God, without first being saved (believing in the Blood of Jesus) – whether it is Micaiah or Elijah or Moses or Peter.

Even today there are many modern false prophets – the media, liberals, false religion etc. They go against Christian beliefs and ridicule our faith. Last few weeks, we saw how Twitter blocked NYPost from publishing Hunter Biden corruption scandals. Google and Facebook are actually supressing these searches and prohibiting distribution of Bidens corruption. They are viciously going against Trump. On the face of it they are very powerful, but for Jesus, the nations are as a drop in the bucket (Isaiah 40:15). Time to prophesy the Truth, even if you are alone amidst hundreds of false voices. It’s the Voice of Mercy & Truth that will bring Salvation to the lost.
